Peanut and Fluff 101

Okay the other day I was watching "Jon and Kate Plus 8" and Kate was talking about making and eating "peanut butter and fluff sandwhiches". What is this crazy kind of sandwhich...well first we have to determin what fluff is......it is a world unkown to me.....i figured that it was the regular marshmallow cream like this:
Boy was I wrong...
Little did I know that there is a whole following of this fluff....people have been making "fluffnutter" sandwhiches for a long time, as on Jon and Kate Plus 8. I did a little research and found that there are hundreds of people who have evidence on their Flickr pages that they love love love some fluff....which isn't the Jet puffed goodness made by Kraft...It is infact made by Durkee Mower Inc. and is so popular that it even has made it's way into space!!! So if this is the case, then why haven't I heard of it???? Am I the only crazy one on earth???? Well come to find out...I haven't heard of it because I live in Texas! They don't offer it here. It is a more northeastern thing....BUT I did live in Illinois.....and why didn't I hear of it then....well that is because in the year I was there, I was not ever really in the market for marshmallow in a can...lol. But living in Illinois I did learn about chocolate sandwhiches....made with Nutella...that I know I can get here...so it isn't such a crazy thing...unless you have never heard of it then you will think I am nuts! lol..

I am very curious now about fluff....

I was originally going to post the simirlarities to Kates Peanutbutter and fluff sandwhiches to a crazy thing I ate a long time ago when a family friend was pregnant....(she craved large marshmallows and peanut butter treats....just dip the marshmallow in a jar of PB and enjoy.....everyone thought she was crazy and that it was nasty...but I happened to have enjoied it.....) but now that I know it is a real phenomenon in other places....I had set out to educate us nonfluff eaters.....and there is a sense of calmness to the terror I had when I knew that they didn't sell fluff in Texas.....I can order it online...

And Kate...if you ever roam the internet searching your name and find my blog, particularly this post.....I would personally like to thank you for opening my eyes to the wonderful goodness!!! And know that one day I will order some online and look like this when I eat it...

Getting Smarter about Grown Up Things....

Being the non-adult that I am….I have not the first clue when it comes to buying a home. Jason has mentioned that he is interested in purchasing a home here in the near future…that sounds good and all, but the boy doesn’t want to rent a house now because he likes the comfort of knowing the apartments are responsible and have to respond quickly if there is anything wrong, like a leaky faucet, messed up garbage disposal…..all the other things that get in the way of a fully functioning home. But he is really really wanting to buy a house...so maybe we are all growing up!
Then I start to think about the things that one has to do to obtain a home loan. ACK!!! My credit…sucks….. People say home loans are easier to get than car loans, and I haven’t been too lucky in the car department…and being committed for 30 or more years to a home loan just seems a bit overwhelming.
I was talking to my friend Stephanie and she had told me that her mortgage was cheap…and with insurance and such she is relatively happy with her monthly payments (although she said she had a crazy high interest rate…) that doesn’t sound tooo tooo bad. BUT…talking with another friend she suggested before I get all stressed out about even the idea of taking out a loan….and before I second guess myself financially, and emotionally…I should research it. She is one to talk since she lives in an apartment also…lol….joking.
I was purusing through the great abyss called the world wide web…..I looked at places I have seen on television…(those here in the DFW area will understand me when I say …Bless Your Heart) and they were helpful..sort of. Then I looked for just the basic lingo and inf for home loans...But as I was googling for more info….I came across this home loan site. ( I love the name...Get Smart...ha...just what the doctor ordered!! lol) It was not informative in the way of explaining everything about loans.......but I got the jest of it with wikepdia and such…..this site seems to cater to people like me…the “I don’t know what the heck I am doing” people. Let’s just say, I have it booked marked and ready to discuss with Jason….now next question…where do we want to live. Ha.
Oh hey….this site will give me a credit report…..and help with credit too…score!!!

Veida's day....May 17,2008...that was Veida's and George's 3 year anniversary for dating...and now it is their wedding anniversary.. I was the maid of honor...but I felt more like the cow of honor..bloated much? Shayda and Veida were super cute, and my dad sported his new suit that he will wear for his upcoming wedding and he says that he paid enough for it that he has to wear it to mine and shayda's weddings too....ha...me...married...doesn't seem likely anytime soon...blah.
Veida had her wedding at Cacharel and it was a no fuss kind of thing for us...they had a staff to pick up, decorate and serve lunch...good times.
We wore dresses that were picked out in less than ten minutes and were on super super markdown...one week before the wedding...flip flopps that were on clearance...jewery we found the day before at sam moons and the night before Veida's friend Laura and I did the flowers...
Us Mastali girls are all about procrastinationesque perfection with a bargin flare.....I dare you to ask us to pay full price for anytihng....even if it is for a wedding! ha ha.

Now Veida and George are in Hawaii....lucky ducks....

Oh and for the record...Veida is now Veida Uzer-Dima and it will soon be changed to just Dima.....so like Drew Barrymore in The Wedding Singer...who played Julia soon to be Goglia Veida is going to be Veida Dima.....silly names that sort of Rhyme....that is a Veida way to pick it! ha....

What a waste of food..

Dear Taco Cabana....

Why oh why do you have to have red chips?? Don't you know that they gross me out....it really is a waste of food to give them to me....soggy with cheese wraped as a tortilla for enchilladas, I will not...and can not eat them...

You make me the butt of Jason's laughter and jokes...he thinks I am weird...I am weird, but I don't want to waste my weirness on such a petty and nasty thing like RED CHIPS!

This is a plea.......STOP SERVING RED CHIPS....and if you can't do that, at least respect my wishes, and save the laughter when I specifically request to not have red chips in my nachos!

Thank you.

Layla the regular chip loving lady.

This is an example of what you would serve me....I borrowed the picture from this flicker account...*barf*

Sad News Exposed

So the news that I couldn't disclose the other day is:

My grandmother was diagnosed with Leukimia on May 1st. She will be 83 years old in June, she has survived cancer once....and she is determined to do it again.

She has the following type of Leukimia (Info from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society)

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is one of four main types of leukemia. About 15,340 new cases of CLL will be diagnosed in 2007. About 95,579 people are living with CLL. More people are living with CLL than any other type of leukemia. Most people with CLL are at least 50 years old.
CLL starts with a change to a single cell called a
lymphocyte. Over time, the CLL cells multiply and replace normal lymphocytes in the marrow and lymph nodes. The high number of CLL cells in the marrow may crowd out normal blood-forming cells, and CLL cells are not able to fight infection like normal lymphocytes do.

The reason I had to wait to share is because Shayda was not told yet. Veida and George picked her up from Nacogdoches and then she came up here and Veida and I told her together. I wanted her to hear it from us, and not read it in a blog.....

I will post more about my Grandma when I have the emotional will-power. Let's just say now that she has been the constant in my life....a rock to lean on.....one of my best friends. I love her.

Loves from Dawson (Dawson part two)

After the initial crying.....Dawson and I played a whole lot.....I loved him giving me kisses...he is a big ball of joy....he is cheesy and cute...I love him!

Tears from Dawson (Dawson part 1)

On Friday May 2nd, I babysat for my cousin Olivia. She has two kids, Dawson is 1 years old and MiKayla is 4. Well Mikayla was at school and I got to hang with Dawson. I used to be around all of my cousins kids all the time so there was never a problem with me babysitting...all the babies loved me and never cried.....well now that I am off doing my own thing..I don't get to bond with all the new babies. Dawson has not got to warm up to me.....so when I got him up from his nap on Friday he cried....then I gave him some loves....and he was happy...

Not for the squeamish

Jason and I ate at a HORRIBLE Chinese buffet the other day....and on the salad bar was this baby squid salad......*BARF*....so knowing Shayla and Jasmine and Aaron, we took three of these nasty pieces home.....and said...who ever eats it gets $5.
Well we figured Julie (Shayla and Jasmine's mom) would not let them have it, and we thought Aaron would pass.....boy were we wrong...and we had to cough up $15. Shayla loved them, said they tasted like chicken and that she wanted more. She at them by plucking each leg off and then popping the head in her mouth like it was candy.....Aaron gagged it down, and at first said it was ok...but as the day progressed he swore it was nasty and he thought he was going to throw up. I think he said it was ok to save face in front of his cousins...Jasmine she ate herself a leg or two, then Shayla finished it off for her. Jasmine kept saying it was spicy, and that is only because it was in a salad with peppers and such.....all in all, they are some brave kids!

(Sorry for the graphics...I am documenting this for posterity sake....ha ha ha)

Good Mail!

This lovely package came for me today! I was a part of the Garden Swap and I had a the chance to meet the lovely Emma from England. And today I got her package in the mail and got all of these wonderful goodies!! Thank you Emma for all the time and effort put into the package...and I forgive the tardy.
There is this package of bread she sent. It is Parmesan and Dried Tomato...she featured it in one of her blogs and I asked for the recipe. She admitted that it was a mix, but she was so wonderful to send me some...I will be making it tonight with my italian chicken and rice....yay for the carbs!

For Stephanie.

Dear Stephanie Spratt.....

It has been almost two months since you have posted a blog.....that makes me sad. I like to read about you.....this is a good place to vent your feelings and get feedback....and the feedback doesn't have to be read....because sometimes a girl just needs to vent and get it off her chest without someone trying to fix it.....
Humor me.

Love,
Layla
